HEPS, supports school health policy

The HEPS Project is connected with the Schools for Health in Europe Network (SHE Network). It has been established to support the SHE National Coordinators with initiating and supporting the development of a national school policy on healthy eating and physical activity in their own country.
Across member states there are many initiatives on reducing the number of children who are overweight. This is done with a practical focus towards developing activities, programmes and teaching methods. However, currently no EU member state has effective national school policy in operation. HEPS aims to bridge this gap by being a policy development project on a national level across Europe. HEPS will help to implement these programmes in a sustainable way at school level.

We all care about our children, they are after all the future of Europe. Currently about one out of four children are overweight. So to tackle this problem, the HEPS project supports member countries to promote healthy eating and physical activity in schools in a positive and sustainable way. HEPS introduces the health promoting school approach as a new way of developing school health policy.
